BPE Brazil 2011

Monday 21 November 2011: Vila Velho State Park
Today we spent 6 hours in Vila Velho State Park, known for its amazing sedimentary rock formations dating from the heyday of Gondwana, when the area was heavily glaciated. Although we were a bit rushed at the beginning, we were lucky that our Park Guide, Felipe (a Biology student at the Federal University where Dan’s long-time friend Walter Boeger is a faculty member), spoke with the driver and was able to negotiate an extended stay – normally there is only a 2-hour stay in total. Here are a couple of links about the park.

The sky was cloudy, making for challenging photography. Steve was able to give everyone some excellent tips, which produced really good results (much better than we would have done on our own).
